PROJECT MOTHERSHIP

Project Mothership is a cooperative rogue-like game with a Souls-inspired combat system in a top-down 2.5D perspective.

The game is being developed by students at Stuttgart Media University as part of the Game Internship module.

A team of 24 students has been tasked with developing a game, organizing the development process independently, and then demonstrating it at the university's MediaNight event.

My main task was to create concepts and implementing them in 3D, as well as animating the Armadillo enemy.

STORY

Your mothership is in urgent need of repairs, and you and your comrade must investigate this hostile planet that is strangely attracting your on-board computer.

As members of a team of highly skilled scouts and engineers, it is up to you both to gather enough resources to get your ship up and running again.

Battling the hostile environment and possibly war machines from a long-past war on this planet, are one of the challenges you have to face.

Time is short, as you don't know how long conditions on this planet will remain stable enough to allow you to take off safely.

Can you gather enough resources, find out what's going on on sal_03x3, and make it back in one piece in time?

ANIMATION

For the game, I animated the Armadillo Enemy.

I created five different animations: roll attack, tail whip, walking, hide, and burrow.

The Armadillo Model was created by another student from the art department.

The hardest part about the animation was the search for references.

For the Hide and Roll Attack, I was able to find videos of armadillos that were rolled up, but for the other animations, I was not able to find any helpful references.

Together with the art department head, we discussed exactly how the enemy should move. At the end I created the animations based on how it should look and feel.
